There’s something electric in the air when fall returns to the Yard. It’s more than the cooler breeze off the Severn or the return of crisp, Navy-and-gold mornings.It’s game time.
As a new academic year begins, the Brigade of Midshipmen is buzzing with excitement. It’s the kickoff of the fall sports season, and that means it’s time for fans, families, and alumni to rally around the U.S. Naval Academy sports teams and show that Midshipmen pride!
So whether you’re a lifelong Navy fan, a proud parent, or just looking for a spirited Naval Academy visit, here’s your guide to what’s happening this fall—and what to wear while you cheer on the Navy blue and gold!
Navy Football: The Heartbeat of the Yard
No fall sports season at the USNA is complete without Navy Football. Games at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium are more than matchups—they’re tradition. From the Brigade march-on to the roar of the crowd at kickoff, the spirit is unbeatable.
This season brings exciting matchups on the home turf, including games against rival service academies, regional powerhouses, and fierce conference foes. Highlights include:
- Navy vs. Air Force (October 4th) – Always a nail-biter and part of the coveted Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy series. Navy will be looking for a win to cap their last one over the Zoomies in 2024.
- Navy Homecoming Game vs. FAU (October 25th): A fan favorite and the perfect time to bust out your Go Navy swag. Expect even more fanfare, possible flyovers, and spirited alumni reunions.
- Navy vs. Army (THE Army-Navy Game, December 13th in Baltimore): It doesn’t get more exciting than this, as Navy defends their overall lead against their rival—including their exciting win over the Black Knights last year.

Men’s and Women’s Soccer: A Kick Above
Don’t sleep on USNA Soccer. The men’s and women’s teams light up the pitch with energy and skill, playing at the beautiful Glenn Warner Soccer Facility—arguably one of the most scenic fields in the country.
The men kick off their season at home against Mt. St. Mary’s on August 21st at 8:00 p.m., and fight for a championship in the Patriot League Tournament in November, meeting Air Force on September 23rd at home and Army away in the Army-Navy Cup XIV on October 10th. The women start the fall season against Robert Morris University in Moon Township, PA at 4:00 p.m. on August 14th. They also have their eyes on the prized Patriot League Tournament in November, hoping to bring home a big win. They’ll battle Army on October 10th, as will the men, in Chester, Pennsylvania, and will take on their biggest rival after the service academies, American University, on American’s home turf on October 15th. Volleyball: Power Plays and Patriotism
Step inside the Wesley A. Brown Field House and get ready to feel the energy. Navy Women’s Volleyball is a powerhouse on the court and brings serious fire to every home match. If you’re looking for a high-energy, high-involvement event (complete with crowd chants and Navy pep), volleyball is your jam.
The women start their season in Utah on August 29th against Boise State and Utah Valley. Then they’ll face Air Force on September 5th and Army on September 19th, both at home. See their full schedule and hit up a game or two!

Cross Country and Sprint Football: Exhilarating and Inspiring
For something a little off the beaten path, check out Navy Cross Country and Sprint Football. These athletes are some of the hardest-working individuals on the Yard, and their competitions bring great intensity and big heart.
Sprint Football: A sport where players must meet a weight limit, this lesser-known version offers a unique twist on traditional football. The matchups are tough, and the camaraderie is inspiring. Check out their schedule here. The team ends their season with the Army matchup in West Point, New York, on November 15th. You can catch them at home versus Mansfield on October 10th.
Cross Country: The men’s team will begin away at the Salisbury Fall Classic on August 30th, and face off against Army at West Point on October 18th. They’re striving for the Patriot League Championships in Bethlehem on Halloween, and both the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional and NCAA Championship after that! Follow their schedule here.
