Music is just one of them, and the upcoming months on the Yard are packed with musical performances by Navy bands, Navy musicians, and other performers showcasing the Brigade’s tremendous talent, dedication, and spirit. Whether you’re a fan of soaring organ music, soulful gospel, ghoulishly good tunes, or striking classical pieces, there’s something special awaiting you in the fall months at the U.S. Naval Academy.

Not only does your visit celebrate the arts, it directly supports the Brigade of Midshipmen and enhances the community’s palpable vibrancy. Here’s what you can expect from these incredible performances and how to make the most of your visit to the Yard!

September: Must-Hear Organ Recital

Prepare to be moved by the brilliant music-making of Peter Richard Conte, fourth Wanamaker Grand Court Organist for the world’s largest fully functioning musical instrument with 29,000 pipes, and one of the most admired “orchestral” organists of this era. His work is acclaimed for its technical superiority and beauty, and it’s guaranteed to give you goosebumps in the best possible way. October: USNA Gospel Choir Gifts and USNA Halloween All Saints’ Day Organ Concert Treats

On October 17th, the spirited USNA Gospel Choir will fill Mahan Hall with glorious music, sharing their unique brand of upbeat, inspirational gospel music with a captivated audience. The group blends a mix of backgrounds whose common bond is “musical talent and a passion to praise through song.” Grab your tickets now and get ready to be wowed by their soulful sound.

Then on Halloween and All Saints Day (which align exactly on the weekend this year!), one of the most popular events on the Yard turns the USNA Chapel into a spooktacular spectacle. Come see the show that always sells out, featuring Director of Chapel Music and Chapel Organist Monte Maxwell and his talented cast of midshipmen, with gorgeous hymns, traditional tunes, and spine-tingling renditions of spooky songs served up with lights, special effects, and the all the feelings of the season! November: Don’t Miss the Instrumental Ensembles Concert

The fall Midshipmen Instrumental Ensembles Concert is on November 21st in the iconic Naval Academy Chapel at 7:00 PM. You’ll be transported by the talented instrumentalists in this orchestra, who master everything from violin and trumpet to piano and harp. As dedicated as the midshipmen are to their studies and training, their musical expertise is next-level. Enjoy an autumn night out listening to classical strains that warm the Chapel and your heart.
