The U.S. Naval Academy reaches another milestone this October 10th when it celebrates 179 years of excellence, which all started on a small plot of land right here in 1845. We salute the Academy that started then and the world-renowned educational institution it is today. We’ve come a long way from the approximately 50 midshipmen that first trained here in the hopes of leading the Fleet someday. Now, the Fleet is a state-of-the-art military organization, and the officers that train here undergo some of the most rigorous training on the planet.
